Comment 2 Donald Berry 2019-03-13 19:06:32 UTC
I found I had to edit the connection during the anaconda install (configure, general, check ‘Automatically connect...’), and then the connection is enabled after installation.

There is no mention of this in the RHVH install docs:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.2/html/installation_guide/red_hat_virtualization_hosts#Installing_RHVH

However I found it in the RHEL install guide:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html/installation_guide/sect-network-hostname-configuration-x86#sect-edit-network-connections-x86
"Mark the Automatically connect to this network when it is available check box if you want to use the connection every time the system boots."

Yes, RHVH is same as RHEL: "Mark the Automatically connect to this network when it is available check box if you want to use the connection every time the system boots."
Maybe we need to update the doc.
Thanks to point this out.

Yuval, should we move this bug to doc ?

Comment 5 Yuval Turgeman 2019-03-14 07:39:35 UTC
I'm not sure if we copy over all the RHEL docs for RHVH, if we do, then, yes we should have this in our docs also

Comment 10 Sandro Bonazzola 2019-04-02 09:18:43 UTC
The fix in Anaconda is tracked at bug #1690336, let's cover this in docs till it will be available to be consumed.

Comment 11 Steve Goodman 2019-04-16 12:17:07 UTC
1. Does this only apply to RHVH? Or also the RHEL hosts?
2. Does this apply only to an interactive GUI-based install? What about when installing using PXE, or when setting up automated installation?
3. If I understand correctly, the request here is to add a note to the RHV installation guide in the section on installing hosts, with a link to https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html/installation_guide/sect-network-hostname-configuration-x86#sect-edit-network-connections-x86

The note should say:

When you install the operating system on your host, mark the *Automatically connect to this network when it is available* check box if you want to use the connection every time the system boots. For more information, see https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html/installation_guide/sect-network-hostname-configuration-x86#sect-edit-network-connections-x86

Please confirm or correct each point above.
