Description Thomas Serries 2005-09-22 10:49:18 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-DE; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050719 Red Hat/1.0.6-1.4.1 Firefox/1.0.6

Description of problem:
Some x3270 fonts (e.g. the default font 3270e) is not recognized by xfs (missing in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.dir). In release x3270-x11-3.3.2.p1 the fonts are recognized.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
x3270-x11-3.3.2.p1-7 and xorg-x11-xfs-6.8.2-1.EL.13.6

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just install x3270-x11-3.3.2.p1-7
2. Start x3270

Actual Results: In /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.dir the entry for the x3270-default-font (3270e.pcf.gz) is missing.
x3270 will use a very small font size by default (unreadable)
A manual selection of the default font (options menu) has no effect

Expected Results: 1. There needs to be the entry for 3270.pcf.gz.
2. x3270 should use this font (it did in release x3270-x11-3.3.2.p1).

We have limited QA testing capabilities and I'm sorry to say that I can't get
a free slot for this package as there are more urgent ones which have priority.

Please try the following:
- check that /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc is listed when you run 'chkfontpath'
- add /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc if necessary with
   'chkfontpath -a /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc'
- run mkfontdir in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:
   'cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc;mkfontdir .'
- restart xfs 'service xfs restart'
