Description of problem:
There is no sound from hdmi on Intel e3-1245v3. Desktop is Mate and hdmi is choosen in pavucontrol.

It appears that all of the above was due to a kernel parameter:
intel_iommu=on

Apparently this installation was updated way more times than I thought. I'm closing a report, because I don't see this paramater in /etc/default/grub on a fresh installation.
