RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Michal Bocek 2019-04-25 14:42:39 UTC
Description of problem:
When performing upgrade of RHEL 7.6 to RHEL 8.0 using Leapp utility, upgrade fails when trying to calculate the rpm upgrade transaction:

Error: Transaction check error:
file /usr/share/squid/errors/zh-cn from install of squid-7:4.4-4.module+el8+2479+dae5d0d3.x86_64 conflicts with file from package squid-7:3.5.20-12.el7.x86_64
file /usr/share/squid/errors/zh-tw from install of squid-7:4.4-4.module+el8+2479+dae5d0d3.x86_64 conflicts with file from package squid-7:3.5.20-12.el7.x86_64

The issue - RHEL 7 squid directories mentioned in the error above changed to symlinks in the RHEL 8 version. This situation is supposed to be handled by %pretrans scriptlet in the RHEL 8 squid SPEC file. More on that in the Fedora packaging guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Directory_Replacement#Replacing_a_symlink_with_a_directory_or_a_directory_with_any_type_of_file.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
squid-7:3.5.20-12.el7.x86_64
squid-7:4.4-4.module+el8+2479+dae5d0d3.x86_64

How reproducible:
Everytime when doing upgrade of RHEL 7 with squid to RHEL 8 using Leapp.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install squid and leapp on RHEL 7.6
2. Run leapp
3. Observe the failure

Actual results:
RPM transaction fails causing the whole system upgrade to fail.

Expected results:
Yum4 does not throw a file conflict error when checking transaction for upgrading RHEL 7.6 squid version to RHEL *8.1* squid version.
It can be achieved by updating the spec file per the packaging guidelines I've linked above.
For upgrades to RHEL *8.0* we will most probably put squid on a "blacklist" in Leapp so it is removed before the upgrade by the Leapp utility. Unless you decide to fix this also for RHEL 8.0.
