Description George R. Goffe 2019-06-12 23:51:51 UTC
Created attachment 1579990 [details]
tar file containing 2 jpgs of the error message from the installer

Description of problem: Attempting to install FC31 (rawhide) from image at https://archive.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/development/rawhide/Everything/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Everything-netinst-x86_64-Rawhide-20190609.n.1.iso encounters a failure popup during target device config. Two tries failed at the /usr partition (/dev/sda7) and the third failed at /var partition (/dev/sda5). The only option given is to terminate installer. The installer appears to enter dnf(?) dependency checking and lists two problems. There appears to be NO WAY to get this information to the host system from the installer in a VM.

problem 1: module tokei:rolling:312019042130518:c3f9a127-0.x86_64 requires module (libgit2:0.27), but none of the providers can be installed...

messages too big to copy here see the attachment.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
see above

How reproducible:
Tried 3 times... ALL 3 failed as described above.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot install .iso file from VM
2.select language (English)
3.reply to continue at warning about test version
4.select configure target system
5.poke custom and then "Done"
6.select "Standard partition"
7.select /dev/sda1, reformat, mount point /boot, update settings
8.select /dev/sda2, reformat, mount point /, update settings
9.select /dev/sda3, reformat, swap, update settings
10. select /dev/sda5, reformat, mount point /var, moving mouse to update settings triggered this failure this time.

Actual results:
installation aborted

Expected results:
clean installation

Comment 1 George R. Goffe 2019-06-14 02:10:14 UTC
This problem seems to exist in Native mode (NON VM).

With an earlier fc31 (rawhide) .iso image AND also a burn of the release time fc30 (rawhide) the device selection menu stops at /dev/sda2 WITHOUT ANY MESSAGES or popups. Again, in Native mode (NON VM).

Is this a hardware problem? The current fc31 (rawhide) display system AND hardware seems to be working fine.

More info:

I just completed installing the latest koji live rawhide and ran this dnf command with very similar results:

dnf group list > groups.sh

Thanks for reporting the issue!

Seems like, another instance of bug 1717117, co deduplicating.
