Description Tomas Jelinek 2019-06-20 10:26:19 UTC
As a consequence of https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1719134#c10 the VMs created using a wizard need to be created on a storage which supports RWM PVCs.

Created attachment 1584276 [details]

Providing information about local storage behaviour in Web-ui version kubevirt-web-ui-container-v2.0.0-14.8 and later.
VMs created with VM wizard using local storage end up in 'Importer Error' state. The related PVC of the VM is in 'Pending' state.

Verified that when user selects storage class with RWM PVs available, the PVC binds correctly and VM can boot as expected.

This should be merged and ready to review in production at http://file.bne.redhat.com/vigoyal/cnv/2.0_review/4.1/cnv/cnv_users_guide/cnv-create-vms.html on July 10, 2019 for 2.0 release.

Added the following as a prerequisite to the module "Running the virtual machine wizard to create a virtual machine":

"When you create your virtual machine using the wizard, your virtual machine’s storage medium must support Read-Write-Many (RWM) PVCs."

Comment 4 Bob Gaydos 2019-07-09 02:56:25 UTC
I will verify this still needs a release note, and if so, will enter it tomorrow. Am leaving Assigned until then.

Comment 5 Bob Gaydos 2019-07-11 06:54:22 UTC
Added a release note with same text: (When you create your virtual machine using the wizard, your virtual machine’s storage medium must support Read-Write-Many (RWM) PVCs.)

This is currently in PR: https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/pull/15805 and will be merged 7/11/19 in the AM.

Let me know if you need a local build to verify. I am still encountering problems producing local builds but hope to resolve *this AM* with Vikram. I am not getting the output I should be getting.

Putting ON_QA at Nelli's request.

Thanks and apologies,
Bob

Otherwise BZ reference in known issues is wrong. Is there a diff BZ in not verified status?

Comment 8 Radim Hrazdil 2019-07-11 09:18:34 UTC
We track inability to use RWO storage in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1724654

Comment 9 Irina Gulina 2019-07-11 09:22:11 UTC
Thanks Radim,

Bob, please update the BZ reference in Known Issues.

Hi Everyone,

Vikram has given the go-ahead to merge this PR: https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/pull/15805/files

Here is a link to the test build: http://file.bos.redhat.com/bgaydos/071119/cnv/cnv_release_notes/cnv-release-notes.html

Note that this content also contains the note for https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1725848.

Putting on_qa along with https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1725848.

Thanks,

Bob
