oVirt gerrit 103065 0 master MERGED core: add auto attaching from data domains 2020-09-09 11:08:38 UTC

Description Tomáš Golembiovský 2019-06-20 14:30:50 UTC
The feature that automatically attaches guest tools ISO to Windows VMs without tools is not working with images in data domain.

I have two guest tools ISOs, one ISO (older) in ISO domain and second ISO (newer) in data domain. When I start the Windows VM the older ISO (the one in ISO domain) is attached to the VM while it should rather choose the one in data domain. When I put ISO domain into maintenance and start the VM no tools ISO is attached while again it should pick the one in data domain.

Comment 1 Tomáš Golembiovský 2019-06-20 14:50:42 UTC
This is most likely not a duplicate of bug 1720795. How I understand it bug 1720795 suggests there is an issue in the logic UI that validates which version of the guest tools is newer.

Comment 2 Michal Skrivanek 2019-08-20 10:35:59 UTC
note that this is also being solved in bug 1730538

Comment 3 Ryan Barry 2019-08-27 14:08:42 UTC
Note that we should also stop auto-attaching from the ISO domain in 4.3

Comment 4 Tomáš Golembiovský 2019-08-29 08:31:38 UTC

Why do we want to stop auto-attaching from ISO domain? We don't have a replacement yet.

Comment 5 Michal Skrivanek 2019-08-29 09:47:31 UTC
we cannot remove that in 4.3, it's an existing feature. We have to fix the broken behavior first, then deliver the planned replacement in 4.4 and stop auto-attach (while this still keeps working in < 4.4 cluster levels)

Comment 6 Petr Matyáš 2020-01-27 14:12:08 UTC
Verified on ovirt-engine-4.4.0-0.17.master.el7.noarch

Comment 7 Petr Matyáš 2020-01-27 14:21:21 UTC
Actually now it is always attached, I'll file a separate bug for that.
