Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Document URL:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.4/html/installing_capsule_server/preparing_your_environment_for_installation#system_requirements
Section Number and Name:
1.1. System Requirements
Describe the issue:
This part of the section 1.1 is pretty much the same as the DOC for the Satellite.
---------
A minimum of 20 GB memory is required for the Satellite Server to function. In addition, a minimum of 4 GB of swap space is also recommended. Satellite running with less memory than the minimum value might not operate correctly.
---------
Suggestions for improvement:
I would like to confirm that:
a) the requirements are the same for capsule
b) change the language to reflect capsule instead of satellite
Additional information:
ACK to updating:
"A minimum of 20 GB memory is required for the Satellite Server to
function. In addition, a minimum of 4 GB of swap space is also
recommended. Satellite running with less memory than the minimum value
might not operate correctly. "
to:
"A minimum of 12 GB memory is required for the Capsule to function. In
addition, a minimum of 4 GB of swap space is also recommended. Capsules
running with less memory than the minimum value might not operate
correctly.
Hi Mike,
Can you confirm one more thing for this task, please.
Is the following applicable to Capsule as well:
"Certified hypervisors
Red Hat Satellite is fully supported on both physical systems and virtual machines that run on hypervisors that are supported to run Red Hat Enterprise Linux. For more information about certified hypervisors, see Which hypervisors are certified to run Red Hat Enterprise Linux?"
I assume if we support running Satellite in virtual machines that run on hypervisors supported on that list, we support running Capsules on the same. Just wanted to confirm that's the case.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Vlada
