Comment 7 Norval Reeves 2019-07-21 03:22:15 UTC
Description of problem:
I have only been using Fedora for a couple of days. I was away from keyboard and came back and found screensaver images on both screens. I've seen several times before after being away, but sometimes the ss doesn't engage and I get a "no signal" from both screens.

In trhe past, whether screensaved or not, keyboard input has taken me back to the previous GNOME session. Today, just now, however, keyboard input caused flashes, which *may* have shown the GNOME desktop very briefly, followed by a login screen.

I checked the "problems" app and found this error along with another, both related to a very recent (2 minutes ago) problem with X11. I tried to report the other one but though a dump upload seemed to work, the app seemed to refuse to report the problem because the "backtrace" didn't come up with relavent information.

So I'm trying to report this error too.

“glamor_get_modifiers+0x767” is xwl_glamor_gbm_create_pixmap() so this is the same as bug 1729925 fixed upstream with https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/merge_requests/242

Description of problem:
My Lenovo P50 laptop has 2 GPU (Intel and Nvidia). I forced the usage of Nouveau driver (Nvidia GPU),
even if the kernel still reports Intel as "active":

$ sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
0:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0
1:DIS: :DynPwr:0000:01:00.0

$ glxinfo|grep -E 'Device|rendering'
direct rendering: Yes
    Device: NV117 (0x13b1)

I tested WebGL in Firefox at https://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html

Then I started hexchat (my IRC client). Suddenly, my whole Gnome session was closed. It seems like Xwayland crashed.

I'm using Wayland for Gnome, hexchat is the only program using X11 API.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 30 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 30 on 2020-05-26.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '30'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 30 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 30 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2020-05-26. Fedora 30 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
