Description jatin 2019-08-21 22:02:30 UTC
I am easily able to run Blender 2.80 latest stable from the blender website all of the dependencies are satisfied. If someone can package it in EPEL it will be great.

Moving to blender maintainer(s) to comment.

Hello Jatin,

Do you have a scratch build result for Blender 2.80 and list the dependencies?

Comment 3 jatin 2019-10-06 10:13:13 UTC
No i think dependencies are bundled in the tar.gz that we download from the blender site, but i can confirm that dependencies should be satisfied as the rpm of fedora works in RHEL 8.

Comment 4 Luya Tshimbalanga 2019-10-10 22:51:04 UTC
Blender EPEL8 is branched on pagure repository [1] but fails to build due to the missing python 3.7, https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=38203659
Feel free to provide a fix on the spec file.

It has to be rebuild for python 3.6

Unfortunable, Blender 2.80 requires at least python 3.7 as highlighted on
https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//work/tasks/3712/38203712/build.log

Comment 7 jatin 2019-10-12 06:21:35 UTC
Then Blender 2.79b will probably be fine in EPEL repo as we can install later versions manually or from snap, 2.79b does support python 3.6 as build dependency as it was in fedora 28, 29

Comment 8 jatin 2019-10-12 06:22:02 UTC
Debian 10 buster has blender 2.79b currently so no probs i guess.

Comment 9 Luya Tshimbalanga 2019-10-12 20:24:53 UTC
Feel free to package blender 2.79b for EPEL8 as say blender279b until python 3.7 lands.

This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

@jatin, still looking to package Blender for EPEL8?
