Description of problem: As per the article by Justin Flory in Fedora Magazine of 22 April 2019, I have installed mpris-scrobbler-0.3.4-1.fc30.x86_64 as indicated. I ran the systemctl command and rebooted. Whenever I try to sign on, I get the following output: WARNING main::loading_credentials: failed WARNING main::load_credentials: no credentials were loaded ERROR main::credentials: Unable to create data folder /mpris-scrobbler/ WARNING signon::config_error: unable to write to configuration file I thought I could work around the problem, so I created the directory myself: mkdir $HOME/.local/share/mpris-scrobbler I put the following lines inside a file named credentials in the aforementioned directory: [listenbrainz] enabled = true token = mylistenbrainztoken When I now run mpris-scrobbler-signon mylistenbrainztoken listenbrainz, I still get the same eroor output: the program is unable to create the directory that already exists and it is unable to write to the cofiguration file that already exists and it fails to load the information that is already there. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): mpris-scrobbler-0.3.4-1.fc30.x86_64 How reproducible: Run mpris-scrobbler-signon mylistenbrainztoken listenbrainz Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: It should work as described in the Fedora Magazine article: it should scrobble to my listenbrainz account using my provided lbz token. Additional info:
Hi Peter, thank you for the bug report. I was able to reproduce in a F30 container. Are you willing to open this bug with upstream as well? https://github.com/mariusor/mpris-scrobbler/issues/new This could be a bug introduced in a newer version of mpris-scrobbler. This week, I will ship the v0.3.5 update, but I am not sure it will fix the problem you described. I would prefer if you opened an issue with upstream in GitHub since you are directly experiencing the bug – you can tag me to follow along too (@jwflory on GitHub).
Hey Justin! Sorry I took so long. There was an outage with my provider for a few days around the end of August and I mussed a fair number of important emails—and I just discovered them this evening! I will do as you said.
Explain how I "open a bug with upstream"? Do I just post on the issues tab (I will try that and see what happens)?
