Description of problem: When the text is copied to the clipboard by any means (selected and copied to clipboard with with CTRL+C or right-click → copy, or by selecting "copy link location" on the webpage in Firefox), it copies only in 9/10 cases. In 1/10 cases, it does not copy, and clipboard contains old data in this case. The issue started with Fedora 27 → 28 upgrade, about 1.5-2 years ago. Right now I'm running Fedora 30, KDE 5.15.5. I tried to change KDE clipboard manager settings and to disable it altogether (it's the only software which handles clipboard on my PC), to no avail. My keyboard is working fine, this is not a hardware issue. I tried another keyboard, just in case. I'm not sure if it's a plasma-desktop issue. Please re-assign to another component. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 30 KDE 5.15.5 How reproducible: About 1/10 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Copy & paste some (different) text ~100 times Actual results: The text will not be copied sometimes, even if you use right click → copy, to exclude keyboard problems. Expected results: The text is copied all the times Additional info: This issue may be Fedora-specific, but I'm not sure. At least one person have it on Funtoo with KDE, but no other distros are affected.
I've collected some feedback on Russian Linux forum, and several people report that they have the same issue on Fedora. https://www.linux.org.ru/forum/desktop/15211163
When this happens, can you test if generic x selection/paste(middle-click) works or not?
And take note which applications the copy operation came from. In particular, there is a known issue that Firefox sometimes sets odd/unexpected selection mimetypes that are sometimes problematic (from a At toolkit point of view)
(In reply to Rex Dieter from comment #2) > When this happens, can you test if generic x selection/paste(middle-click) > works or not? Yes, primary buffer works fine, haven't had any problems with it. Probably in all software I have, both GTK and Qt.
If you have even a slight idea about the problem and how to debug it, please write it here.
I'm on Fedora 31 now, the problem still happens from time to time. Here's a person with Gnome and Fedora 31, a very fresh report (03.04.2020) https://www.linux.org.ru/forum/desktop/15211163?cid=15620581 > I'm on 31 and this issue is driving me nuts!!!! > > Initially it appeared on Fedora 29. I did not have any clipboard manager at that time. When this issue began to happen, I tried to install various clipboard managers to understand what's going on. Nothing helped. > > Now I have GPaste 3.34.1 and see the following: > * Select text in Firefox > * See this text in GPaste on the top of the stack > * Try to paste this text in another browser window — everything is fine > * Try to paste this text in terminal window — everything is fine > * Try to paste the text in TexStudio window — I'll be damned !!! Instead of the top text the previous line(!!!) in GPaste stack is pasted. > > Regardless of what I've tried when this happens, I could not paste the top line of the stack in GPaste. > > You could assume this is an issue with TexStudio, but I've typed 100 pages like that, and it was fine before. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.
Another report, from 22.02.2020 https://www.linux.org.ru/forum/desktop/15211163?cid=15543382 > The same problem, but it happens more frequently! Copying does not work reliably when work in LibreOffice, both CTRL+C and in right-click menu → copy. When copying from gedit to LibreOffice — the same thing, does not copy all the time. System is Ubuntu 19.10, Gnome and LO with stock configuration. It looks like this: you'd be out of luck and won't paste with copy-paste, the second time almost always work, especially if you change copying method.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '31'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 31 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2020-11-24. Fedora 31 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Still happens from time to time on Fedora 34 for me. https://old.reddit.com/r/kdeneon/comments/mgybdr/firefox_and_the_clipboard/ https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433854
