Description Simon Lauger 2019-09-24 12:17:37 UTC
The package perl-Monitoring-Plugin is currently not available in EPEL 8. This package is important for a lot of my customers. Many Perl based Nagios/Icinga plugins from community depend on this library.

Are there any plans to release this package for EPEL 8?

Comment 1 Piotr Popieluch 2019-09-25 07:10:24 UTC
I for sure do not have time to do this. I don't know about the other maintainers. Do you want to co-maintain and create it yourself?

Comment 2 Simon Lauger 2019-09-27 13:10:55 UTC
I'm not yet familiar with the Fedora build system, but i'll give it a try. As it's a very simple package, a port for el8 shouldn't be very complicated in my opinion.

Comment 3 Simon Lauger 2019-10-01 20:33:57 UTC
Seems like the changes in the f28 branch are exactly what we need. Could someone just create a new epel8 branch from the f28 branch?

Looks like some dependencies need to be made available as well:

 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides perl(Params::Validate) needed by perl-Monitoring-Plugin-0.40-1.el8.noarch
  - nothing provides perl(Class::Accessor) needed by perl-Monitoring-Plugin-0.40-1.el8.noarch
  - nothing provides perl(Class::Accessor::Fast) needed by perl-Monitoring-Plugin-0.40-1.el8.noarch

Provided by perl-Class-Accessor from CodeReady Builder/PowerTools repository.

Provided by perl-Class-Accessor from CodeReady Builder/PowerTools repository.

Provided by perl-Params-Validate package from CodeReady Builder/PowerTools repository.

You need to enable CodeReady Builder on RHEL or PowerTools on CentOS repository as documented in <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL#How_can_I_use_these_extra_packages.3F>.
