jq is available on RHEL 8.x but not necessarily on RHEL 7.x.  If this is a prerequisite, we will either need to revive the request to add it to 7.x or remove/change the prerequisite

Since you can obtain the jq package for RHEL 7 from EPEL, we're keeping the command as-is and will begin phasing out using jq in the docs.
