RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Ed Santiago 2019-10-29 21:01:48 UTC
Created attachment 1630326 [details]
podman run --log-level=debug alpine date

Gating tests are failing for podman-1.6.2 on rhel8:

    https://dashboard.osci.redhat.com/#/artifact/redhat-module/aid/4541

      https://baseos-jenkins.rhev-ci-vms.eng.rdu2.redhat.com/job/ci-openstack-mbs-sti/796/artifact/work-tests.ymluDIV8p/tests-DaOv1q/test.podman-nonroot.bats.log

Trivial reproducer, as rootless:

$ podman run alpine date [see attached for debug log]
    Error: slirp4netns failed

podman-1.6.2-1.module+el8.2.0+4541+ec984734.x86_64

slirp4netns-0.3.0-4.module+el8.1.1+4407+ac444e5d.x86_64

Comment 1 Daniel Walsh 2019-10-29 21:55:48 UTC
Probably need a new version
slirp4netns-0.4.0-20.1.dev.gitbbd6f25.fc31.x86_64

Comment 2 Daniel Walsh 2019-10-30 17:41:33 UTC
Jindrich could you update slirp4netns?

Comment 5 Ed Santiago 2019-10-31 23:17:00 UTC
Looks to be working with slirp4netns-0.4.0-2.module+el8.2.0+4570+2418d40d.x86_64

There's a new problem, though. I'll need to file a bz. It's a real problem, please don't waive the failing gating tests.

Comment 7 Ed Santiago 2019-11-04 01:30:59 UTC
Quick gripe: although the 4570 module build has the correct slirp4netns, I did notice that the podman-1.6.2-1.module+el8.2.0+4541+ec984734.x86_64 RPM is still from the older 4541 build, and does not have updated dependencies. I would be much happier if there were an updated podman RPM with updated Requires to newer slirp4netns.

It is possible that in this new rhel8 module world it does not matter, because podman-1.6.2-1 will never go out as a non-module. I don't know enough about this new world. But even if that's the case, wouldn't it be nice if the specfile were updated anyway, at least for the next build? It's just one extra little backup. Thanks in advance.

Comment 8 Daniel Walsh 2019-11-04 15:42:47 UTC
I am hoping we have a newer podman than that anyways, podman 1.6.3 or podman 1.7.0 if possible. We can update the dependencies then.

Comment 9 Jindrich Novy 2019-11-21 14:38:38 UTC
podman-1.6.3 now contains Requires: slirp4netns >= 0.4.0-1. I'm moving this to MODIFIED.

Comment 15 Alex Jia 2020-03-19 11:49:06 UTC
I can reproduce this bug in slirp4netns-0.3.0-4.module+el8.1.1+4407+ac444e5d.x86_64,
and verified in slirp4netns-0.4.0-2.module+el8.2.0+4570+2418d40d.x86_64 and
slirp4netns-0.4.2-3.git21fdece.module+el8.2.0+5658+9a15711d.x86_64.
