More detailed description could be added for 'Exclude pattern for facts stored in satellite' and 'Ignore interfaces with matching identifier' items, particularly how the wildcards are expanded as they don't seem to work the traditional way. Thank you for opening this bug. I'll take a look.
Hi Vladimir, Thank you for opening this bug. We have a section here where we have included information about search syntax. I think the idea behind a section like this was so it could be universally applicable to all of Satellite so that we could benefit everyone writing search queries etc. https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.6/html/administering_red_hat_satellite/chap-red_hat_satellite-administering_red_hat_satellite-searching_and_bookmarking#sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Administering_Red_Hat_Satellite-Query_Syntax Do you think if I added some information here about using wildcards, with examples from this provisioning scenario, that it might be more helpful? I appreciate you opening the BZ and bringing this to our attention. PS, in your comment in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1759111 Peter V cannot see private comments.

Hello Melanie, the section you mentioned relates generally to the searchboxes and in these searchboxes wildcards work as expected. So generally yes, you can add some wildcards description and reuse it everywhere searchbox is referenced. However, in case of this BZ, I meant usage of wildcards in the two particular items under the Provisioning tab, which seem to be implemented in a different way. I'm sorry for being unclear in my initial comment and I hope it's more clear now. Please feel free to ping me in case of any doubts. PS: Thank you for notice, I didn't realize Peter is not from RedHat.
ups, didn'ŧ wish to touch the whiteboard
These changes are now live on the Customer Portal: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.6/html/administering_red_hat_satellite/satellite-settings_assembly Thanks, Melanie
