It usually just shows 2^y (the -1 does not update the binary display). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-utils-2.13.3-1 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.2 2.x^y 3.55 thru 64 4.ENTER 5.- (minus) 6.1 7.ENTER Actual Results: The binary bits are not updated after step 7. Hi Peter, If you post the bug upstream you will likely get a response sooner. In general it is a good idea to post bugs upstream if they aren't distribution specific. If you do file upstream can you provide a link to the bug here? Thanks.

FYI - Bug was verified and fixed in CVS. Should be fixed in v5.7.21. (currently 5.7.18)
