Description Ben Parees 2019-11-03 18:09:42 UTC
Description of problem:

level=info msg="Waiting up to 30m0s for the cluster at https://api.ci-op-n8t86hyy-5d1b5.origin-ci-int-gce.dev.openshift.com:6443 to initialize..."

level=info msg="Cluster operator insights Disabled is False with : "
level=fatal msg="failed to initialize the cluster: Working towards 4.3.0-0.ci-2019-11-01-122324: 100% complete"

https://prow.svc.ci.openshift.org/view/gcs/origin-ci-test/logs/release-openshift-origin-installer-e2e-gcp-upgrade-4.3/127

Actual results:
console operator reports not available

Expected results:
console operator reports available.

Also when the console operator reports unavailable, more information about why not all the replicas aren't available would be nice, if it could be gathered (e.g. gather it from the deployment/pods).

Additional info:
Also reported a bug to install team that it is reporting 100% complete when things are still unavailable.

Comment 1 Samuel Padgett 2019-11-04 13:38:35 UTC
> 2019/11/1 15:45:24 auth: error contacting auth provider (retrying in 10s): request to OAuth issuer endpoint https://oauth-openshift.apps.ci-op-n8t86hyy-5d1b5.origin-ci-int-gce.dev.openshift.com/oauth/token failed: Head https://oauth-openshift.apps.ci-op-n8t86hyy-5d1b5.origin-ci-int-gce.dev.openshift.com: dial tcp 35.196.193.115:443: connect: connection refused

Console can't connect to the OAuth server. We have a few bugs open: bug 1765280, bug 1766664, and bug 1767119.

I agree the message should be better. We have some work in flight to improve that.

https://github.com/openshift/console-operator/pull/330
https://github.com/openshift/console-operator/pull/334

We're also planning on adding a health endpoint so that the operator can report specifically when the console can't talk to the OAuth server instead of the generic error.
