Comment 3 Nick Clifton 2019-12-03 16:10:18 UTC
This bug relies upon using a specially crafted, corrupt input file to trick one of the binutils utilities into overrunning a buffer and triggering a segmentation fault. It has been fixed in the upstream sources, but it is not worth backporting the fix to older releases as all it can do is stop a utility tool from working, and then only a file that is corrupt in the first place.
