Description of problem: starting cura shows a splash screen which disappears, and the main screen never appears. The list of desktop applications (Ctrl-Alt-Tab) shows a running python3 but it does not show a window when selected. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): cura-4.1.0-2.fc31.noarch How reproducible: every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. run cura from commandline or desktop Actual results: cura main window not visible Expected results:cura main window visible
when run in X11 mode XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 cura the main window shows up
Interesting! I thought it was an issue with my staged Cura 4.3.0 and I didn't think of testing the current version. I guess for now I'll just stage Cura 4.4.0 with this environment variable set, and will try to figure out a way to patch it afterwards for a later release.
Filed an issue upstream https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/6786
Keeping this open to track a proper fix.
Gabriel is there an ETA for adding the XDG_SESSION_TYPE environment variable into the cura script?
(In reply to Erick from comment #5) > Gabriel is there an ETA for adding the XDG_SESSION_TYPE environment variable > into the cura script? Cura 4.4 is staged for Fedora 32, maybe we should push it as an update in Fedora 31? (see: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1421200)
