Created attachment 1639248 [details] ALSA Info Description of problem: In Fedora 30, everything worked as expected, including the headphone jack; I could hear sound through headphones. I updated to Fedora 31 and the headphone jack has stopped working. I can hear sound through the laptop speakers, but I cannot hear sound through headphones when connected. PulseAudio and Sound Preferences clearly show the headphone connected. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): alsa-utils 1.2.1-3 How reproducible: Every time I connect headphones to headphone jack. Actual results: When I plug in the headphones, PulseAudio and the Sound settings detect that it is connected but I cannot hear sound. Expected results: I expect that when I connect my headphones to the headphone jack, I should hear sound; i.e if I am playing a video, I should hear the audio in the headphones when connected to the jack. Additional info: PC: Dell Latitude 5591 2018 model purchased in 2019. Purchased new from Dell.
I do have the same problem on Fedora 31 on a Dell XPS 13 9370, i.e. headphones connection detected, but no sound, while sound works fine with the speakers. Here's my kernel: uname -srv Linux 5.5.10-200.fc31.x86_64 May also be linked tdo this report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1316119
This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '31'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
