Doc Text:
With this release, support for automatically connecting to a Virtual Machine has been restored as a configurable option. This is enabled in the Account Settings > Console tab. This feature enables the user to connect automatically to a running Virtual Machine every time the user logs in to the VM Portal. - Each user can choose a VM to auto connect to from a list on a global level, in the Account Settings > Console tab. - Only if the chosen VM exists and is running, the auto connect will be enforced next time the user logs in. - The Console type for connecting will be chosen based on Account Settings > Console options. - This auto connect VM setting is persisted per user on the engine.

Description Marian Jankular 2019-12-09 15:39:08 UTC
Description of problem:
missing console options in vm portal

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhv 4.3.6

documentation [1] is saying there is a pencil in console section however there is no console section in vm portal so it is not possible to enable the automatic opening of the console after login into vm portal

Comment 1 Michal Skrivanek 2019-12-10 05:57:27 UTC
Console options are only in webadmin. But you’re talking about “connect automatically” which indeed should be there

Comment 9 Sharon Gratch 2021-10-20 13:11:17 UTC
The u/s issue is here: https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-web-ui/issues/1459

Comment 13 Ivana Saranova 2022-03-24 16:18:23 UTC
Steps:
1) Log in to VM Portal
2) Go to Settings -> Console, set a VM with guest agent to be automatically connected to
3) Logout
4) Log in again

Results:
Pop up to open console file is showed and user can be automatically connected to the console.

Questions:
This behavior is only triggered after logout/login and won't work by going to welcome page and back to VM portal without logging out. Is this intended?

Tested in:
ovirt-engine-4.5.0.1-601.f26e9ea8cac5.3.el8ev.noarch
ovirt-web-ui-1.8.0-1.el8ev.noarch

Comment 14 rszwajko 2022-03-24 16:31:34 UTC

Yes, this was requested during the review and added explicitly in [1].
Note however that this can be disabled by setting sessionAgeFirstLoginThresholdInSeconds config parameter to zero in ovirt-web-ui.config.
