RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Leon Fauster 2019-12-19 21:08:39 UTC
Description of problem:

There exits texlive-babel-english but no texlive-babel-german.

Please consider adding german language support to texlive in RHEL8.x.

Our TeX workflow needs at least:

texlive-babel-german - Babel support for documents written in German
texlive-german - Support for German typography
texlive-germbib - German variants of standard BibTeX styles
texlive-nomencl - Produce lists of symbols as in nomenclature

we don't want to add this support into rhel-8.x but consider adding it to texlive-extention in EPEL8.

i uploaded the above rpm packages on https://than.fedorapeople.org/epel8/texlive/
Could you please download and test if it works for you?

The above packages are parts of texlive-extention which will be available in epel8 repo soon.

Thanks

The german language support for texlive is added in epel8. You have to enable the epel8 repo for downloading the rpms.

Hi Than, I am back from holidays and got my hands on this now. I tested the packages in epel-testing and it looks pretty good.
Thank you very much for your effort providing a texlive-extension package set in EPEL8! - So, could be pushed into epel repo?

While testing I noticed that a used tool in our workflow (/usr/bin/lacheck) that is in RHEL6 packaged in the texlive-latex rpm package, is missed in the RHEL8's texlive-latex package.

I wonder how to make requests to extend the texlive-extension package set? In particular we are interested in:

http://ctan.math.illinois.edu/systems/texlive/tlnet/archive/lacheck.tar.xz
http://ctan.math.illinois.edu/systems/texlive/tlnet/archive/chktex.tar.xz

In Fedora they are packaged separately (texlive-lacheck, texlive-chktex). So generally which way to go; separate rpms and bugzilla requests or everything in texlive-extension?

it's available in epel8 testing repo and already pushed into epel8 repo yesterday. it could take a couple of days before it's visible in repl8 repo.

there's texlive-extension component in bugzilla, if you want to make requests like above, please open the bug in texlive-extension and add your requests there.

Thanks
