RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Andreas Nilsson 2020-01-10 22:09:31 UTC
We're currently working on a new help menu in Cockpit.
https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit/pull/13376

The idea behind this menu is to give quick and easy access to system documentation. We want to provide help links for:
1. General OS documentation
2. Cockpit Web Console documentation
3. Specific area documentation, eg. the users page or the services page.

For the General OS documentation, we would like to use the DOCUMENTATION_URL value from /etc/os-release, as specified in the systemd documentation for os-release https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/os-release.html#HOME_URL=

Fedora now ships a documentation URL in /etc/os-release that points to https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora/f31/system-administrators-guide/

For RHEL I think the best high-level equivalent would be:
DOCUMENTATION_URL="https://access.redhat.com/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/"
as this gives you a good general overview of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

I'll try to cook up a patch for this early next week.

patch to fix the issue

Comment 2 Martin Pitt 2020-01-13 13:35:50 UTC
Thanks Andreas! I confirm that %{base_release_version} expands to exactly "8" and https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/ works.

Comment 4 Peter Kotvan 2020-05-15 07:57:27 UTC
Providing qa_ack+. We can extend our redhat-release test to include this as well.

Comment 8 Lisa S 2020-10-06 21:17:00 UTC
Peter, can you qa_ack this for 8.4?

Comment 9 Matej Marušák 2020-10-30 06:05:03 UTC
Today checked out 8.4 compose and this is already present.
Thank you!
