Comment 1 Ben Cotton 2020-11-03 16:14:28 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '31'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 2 Fedora Update System 2020-12-13 05:46:05 UTC
FEDORA-2020-fa16bcad0c has been submitted as an update to Fedora 33. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2020-fa16bcad0c

Comment 3 Zamir SUN 2020-12-13 05:47:28 UTC
The directory ownership should be fixed now. Can you test the package in the update request?

If I start gmediareder as a service I still cannot play an audio file.

Not allowing to run as root is actually the expected behavior.

Ok this can be fixed easily.
BTW, can I know which application you are rendering from? I package this several years ago to enjoy music on my mobile in the beginning. However I haven't use this again after changed my mobile long time ago, and I cannot even find any working app to actually render from now. If you could give me some information on the app you are rendering from it'll be really useful for me to debug the rendering issue when running as a service.

I'm using BubbleUPnP
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp

Comment 8 Zamir SUN 2020-12-14 14:24:52 UTC
Thanks for the info.

Can you try this scratch build? When running as service, rendering from my mobile (using BubbleUPnP free version) works just fine for me with this.

In case you did not check it, you need to enable ssdp and gmediarender service on firewall.

Comment 9 Andrea Musuruane 2020-12-16 13:16:33 UTC
The situation in unchanged. If I start gmediareder as a service I still cannot play an audio file, even with firewalld stopped.

If I start gmediarender from a non-root user, I no longer have permission errors:

[andrea@localhost ~]$ gmediarender
gmediarender 0.0.8 started [ gmediarender 0.0.8 (libupnp-1.12.1; glib-2.66.3; gstreamer-1.18.2) ].
Logging switched off. Enable with --logfile=<filename> (or --logfile=stdout for console)
Ready for rendering.

Comment 10 Ben Cotton 2021-02-09 15:13:58 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 34 development cycle.
Changing version to 34.

Comment 11 Ben Cotton 2022-05-12 16:55:37 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 34 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 34 on 2022-06-07.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '34'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 34 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.
