The first SPEC file is to update the package for EPEL7 (from version 5.25.1 to 5.26.0). The second SPEC file is to add the package to EPEL8. I was able to build the RPM packages using rpmbuild and test them on CentOS 7 and 8 respectively. I would like to co-maintain the package in the future, in case the existing package maintainer (Stewart Adam) would appreciate support. It will still take me some time to get familiar with the Koji build system. Thank you for your efforts. Also thanks to Stewart for maintaining the package so far. - No need to prepare a single spec file for every branch - monit is already built for EPEL 7 > I would like to co-maintain the package in the future, in case the existing package maintainer (Stewart Adam) would appreciate support. Hi @livio, I tried adding you to the package commit ACL but it couldn't find your FAS username - I'm guessing it filters by members of the packagers group. @Antonio can we sponsor @livio and I'll be his point of contact for any questions as he ramps up?
Sorry, he/she*. Did not mean to assume :)

Hi Stewart Many thanks for your reply. My Fedora Account says: Account Name: livio Email: l I used my email address to log in though. You assumed correctly, I am a he (systems engineer in early thirties). I would be happy to help Stewart with the package and future updates.
@l sorry this fell through the cracks! I can also sponsor, if you're still interested. Looks like monit is in EPEL 8 already now but let's keep this open until Livio is sponsored. @s.adam - you're still interested in being the POC for this, right? Stewart will have to add Livio to the package ACL once I sponsor him, as I only have commit access and can't edit the ACL myself. Waiting to get confirmation from you two first though.
If livio is still interested in co-maintaining or taking over maintainership, I'm happy to add him and help answer questions.

@s.adam, @michel Unfortunately, I am no longer using RedHat because of the missing stable CentOS release. I migrated to Debian in the meantime.
clearing needinfo - sorry to hear that, I believe we can close this then? I plan on revisiting the monit package soon when I have a moment to and I'll add a el8 branch when doing so.
