hatch fails to build with Python 3.9.0a3. _________________________________ test_failure _________________________________ def test_failure(): with temp_chdir() as d: runner = CliRunner() env_name = get_new_venv_name() result = runner.invoke(hatch, ['env', '--pypath', d, env_name]) assert result.exit_code != 0 > assert 'An unexpected failure may have occurred.' in result.output E assert 'An unexpected failure may have occurred.' in 'Usage: hatch env [OPTIONS] NAME\nTry "hatch env -h" for help.\n\nError: Missing argument "NAME".\n' E + where 'Usage: hatch env [OPTIONS] NAME\nTry "hatch env -h" for help.\n\nError: Missing argument "NAME".\n' = <Result SystemExit(2)>.output tests/commands/test_env.py:45: AssertionError For the build logs, see: https://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/@python/python3.9/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/01248333-hatch/ For all our attempts to build hatch with Python 3.9, see: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.9/package/hatch/ Testing and mass rebuild of packages is happening in copr. You can follow these instructions to test locally in mock if your package builds with Python 3.9: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.9/ Let us know here if you have any questions. Python 3.9 will be included in Fedora 33. To make that update smoother, we're building Fedora packages with early pre-releases of Python 3.9. A build failure prevents us from testing all dependent packages (transitive [Build]Requires), so if this package is required a lot, it's important for us to get it fixed soon. We'd appreciate help from the people who know this package best, but if you don't want to work on this now, let us know so we can try to work around it on our side.
Note to me: hatch depends on bleach, bleach itself isn't Python 3.8.1/3.9 compatible (https://github.com/mozilla/bleach/issues/503) and it also bundles html5lib which does not have Python 3.9 compatible release (https://github.com/html5lib/html5lib-python/issues/419).
The last two builds are okay without any change here so I'm closing this as notabug.
