RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Jeff Nelson 2020-03-04 16:57:42 UTC
Description of problem:
Update the components in the virt:rhel stream so they reflect the components that were shipped in RHEL AV-8.2.0.

This is effectively a rebase of those components that were rebased in RHEL AV, like libvirt and qemu-kvm.

Expected results:
virt:rhel stream contains the same components that were shipped in RHEL AV-8.2.0.

Additional info:
Bugzillas for those components that are being updated will be tracked here as blockers.

Hi, can you please grant QA_ACK?
This BZ will be run at twice (for 8.2 and 8.2.1) after GA in both.

Comment 4 Danilo de Paula 2020-04-28 16:44:19 UTC
For the record:

The current build includes all content from av-8.2.1 branch.
The only packages that didn't change are: libiscsi, netcf and sgabios
All the other packages had their dist-git branch updated somehow.

The list of the packages in the module are:

SLOF
hivex
libguestfs
libguestfs-winsupport
libiscsi
libnbd
libvirt
libvirt-dbus
libvirt-python
nbdkit
netcf
perl-Sys-Virt
qemu-kvm
seabios
sgabios
supermin

virtglrenderer was not included in the module, as it's a barerpm in RHEL.
libnbd is included, but it still uses the av-8.2.1 branch (because the RHEL branch was not created yet)

If anyone needs more information about this build: curl https://mbs.engineering.redhat.com/module-build-service/2/module-builds/6423

Comment 8 Danilo de Paula 2020-06-05 16:45:37 UTC
@Jeff, isn't bug 1834479 a duplication of this bug?
At least I'm using this one to justify the updates...

Comment 9 yalzhang@redhat.com 2020-07-13 03:51:57 UTC

This is a known issue.
I needed exception+ in bz#1844296 to be able to update it.
It was granted last thursday, so I will fix this soon.

Those packages are not updated since el8.1.0, so the system just keep reusing them. A known modular feature, or bug, depending on how you look into it.

Comment 11 Danilo de Paula 2020-07-13 18:05:18 UTC
The issue with the seabios package has been fixed in the latest build.

Comment 12 yalzhang@redhat.com 2020-07-14 03:56:21 UTC
Check on latest virt module module-virt-rhel-8030020200713180241-30b713e6 on rhel 8.3, the issue about seabios is fixed:

Comment 16 yalzhang@redhat.com 2020-08-11 06:22:44 UTC
Compared the version of latest virt:rhel:8030020200807155218 module with rhel-av 8.2.1 virt module, the result is as expected:
virt:rhel stream contains the content that were shipped in RHEL AV-8.2.1
Some package are with "+el8.1.0" release tag, it is acceptable as comment 14.
Set this bug to be verified.
