From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20060202 Fedora/1.0.7-1.2.fc4 Firefox/1.0.7 Description of problem: I was able to uninstall openldap-devel. After that i could not: /etc/init.d/smbd start (could not find libldap-2.2.so.7 error) and i couldn't smb:// another samba server from konqueror (something about kio_slave). I believe dependencies should have prevented me from uninstalling openldap-devel if smbd is installed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): yum-2.4.1-1.fc4 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. uninstall openldap-devel from rpm or yum 2. try to start smbd or from konqueror to smb:// another samba server Actual Results: failure to start smbd, failure to smb:// other samba filesystems Expected Results: smbd to work as before, smb:// to work as before Additional info: If i yum install openldap-devel everything goes back to normal.
This is not a yum bug.
The shared library named above is in the 'openldap' package, so this looks very odd. Evris, does running '/sbin/ldconfig' as root have any effect?
I was able to reproduce this once, but now my machine won't do it any more. Grr. I ran ldconfig after I removed openldap-devel, and now everything works and keeps working, no matter how many times I install or remove openldap-devel, samba, etc. Grr.
This report targets the FC3 or FC4 products, which have now been EOL'd. Could you please check that it still applies to a current Fedora release, and either update the target product or close it ? Thanks.
seem this works on later releases
