engine-backup in version 4.4 allows restoring also from backups taken by 4.3, to allow using that as a means to upgrade from 4.3 on EL7 to 4.4 on EL8 (which does not allow direct upgrade).

Verified on ovirt-engine-tools-backup-4.4.0-0.26.master.el8ev.noarch This bugzilla is included in oVirt 4.4.0 release, published on May 20th 2020. Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in oVirt 4.4.0 release, it has been closed with a resolution of CURRENT RELEASE. If the solution does not work for you, please open a new bug report. |
Created attachment 1669657 [details] restore log Description of problem: Upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4 is not possible as restore will refuse to unpack the backup as it was created in 4.3. There is no other way to upgrade so this needs to be enabled. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): ovirt-engine-tools-backup-4.4.0-0.25.master.el8ev.noarch How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install rhel7 with 4.3 2. backup 3. install rhel8 with 4.4 repos and packages 4. restore Actual results: restore fails with FATAL: Backup was created by version '4.3' and can not be restored using the installed version 4.4 Expected results: restore succeeds Additional info:
