Description of problem: Network printers (in this case, JetDirect) are always 'Ready', even if the printer has been disconnected from the network, or if the system has been disconnected from the network. Jobs will remain in the 'Processing' state until a connection to the printer can be established. I would expect network printers which cannot be reached to be shown with an 'Unavailable' status. How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add network printer (in this case, JetDirect) using gnome-control-center printers spoke 2. Disconnect printer from network (or system from network) 3. Attempt to print, notice document stays as 'Processing' until connection is reestablished Actual results: Printer always shows as 'Ready', even when it cannot be reached. Print jobs stay as 'Processing' until the printer can be reached. Expected results: Some kind of notification that the printer is currently unavailable, possibly allowing the user to queue the job anyway with the note that it will be printed when the printer again becomes available. Additional info: Tested with an HP LaserJet 1300 with a network ILO card, connected to the system via JetDirect.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '32'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
