Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Vendula Poncova 2020-03-24 12:07:32 UTC
This bug was initially created as a copy of Bug #1691319

I am copying this bug because: The Anaconda rebase will require to deal with the following changes in langtable. Ideally, langtable could backport these changes from upstream.

https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda/pull/1987
https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda/pull/2253

Rebase anaconda in 8.3 to pull in numerous bug fixes and align rhel08 with feature work we've been doing upstream toward modularizing anaconda.

Comment 1 Jens Petersen 2020-05-04 08:46:37 UTC
Can you comment on which version of langtable you would like to see in 8.3?

Comment 2 Jens Petersen 2020-05-04 08:55:59 UTC
Or can we just do a backport of the required changes?

Comment 3 Mike FABIAN 2020-05-04 10:01:11 UTC
Here is a build of langtable-0.0.51 for rhel-8.3.0-candidate:

Comment 4 Vladimír Slávik 2020-05-11 17:01:47 UTC
Hi Jens, 0.51 is perfectly ok with us... in rawhide we declare dependency on 0.49, but have been using 0.51 for some time so that's the current "proven combination".

Comment 5 Mike FABIAN 2020-05-14 13:40:44 UTC
I pushed langtable-0.0.51 to the rhel-8.3.0 branch, the build is here:

https://brewweb.engineering.redhat.com/brew/taskinfo?taskID=28577504

Comment 6 Vladimír Slávik 2020-05-14 14:14:38 UTC
I've taken a look at the build Mike linked above and confirm it has the things we need - parse_locale and POSIX.

Comment 7 Vladimír Slávik 2020-05-21 15:46:19 UTC
After a more careful look, 0.51 actually changes what existing API does, so it is not the safest choice for keeping backward compatibility with existing RHEL anaconda. Therefore we should coordinate the langtable and anaconda release, or go to only 0.49 (for now?).

Comment 8 Mike FABIAN 2020-06-04 06:06:32 UTC
For langtable:
https://errata.devel.redhat.com/advisory/55578

Comment 11 avdhoot 2020-07-14 13:56:12 UTC
verified with below steps-
1. In rhel 8.3.0 beta expected langtable package is present.
    [test@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep langtable
    langtable-0.0.51-4.el8.noarch

2. checked by giving wrong localeID
   >>> import langtable
   >>> langtable.parse_locale('de_DE@euro')
   Locale(language='de', script='', territory='DE', variant='EURO', encoding='')

   >>> langtable.parse_locale('redhat')
   Locale(language='', script='', territory='', variant='', encoding='')
