Description Robert McSwain 2020-03-31 18:19:07 UTC
Description of problem:

Issue accessing VM consoles, which are all vGPU enabled VMs built for remote graphics via a tool called Mechdyne TGX.

RHV 4.2 to 4.3 upgrade was performed over the weekend which included the RHV Manager and RHV hosts per the instructions - those all seem to be working as expected.

Confirmed it wasn't any connectivity issues because it was working yesterday, so it was attempted to connect from systems on the same network to confirm that VPN and firewalls aren't the cause.

Version
RHV 4.3.8, newly upgraded from 4.2

This may be related to the utilization of Mechdyne TGX as the $VM.log files on the host don't show any failures and the engine.log shows it connects cleanly. A bug may be needed for 4.3.

How reproducible:
Unknown at this time, unable to reproduce or find any similar issues

Comment 3 Robert McSwain 2020-03-31 18:23:59 UTC
To clarify - The console opens but the screen is blank. This has been tested with existing VMs as well as with a fresh install - the installation prompts are unable to be seen.

Guests are RHEL 7.6 and 7.7, both with the latest RHV guest agent packages.

From the customer:

Is there anything I can do to help test? I can set aside a VM for testing, but won't be able to set aside an entire RHV host if that helps.

Too soon to tell. I found a host in Beaker, but it will take some time to provision and try to get a reproducer

Comment 9 shawnahall71+redhatbugzilla 2020-04-03 17:59:18 UTC
Hi - end user here. I've managed to cordon off an entire RHV host + its 8 vGPU VMs. I'm happy to help use this hardware to test.

It's difficult to give direct remote access into our company, but it is easy enough to either provide requested information or to have a screen sharing call. Our company uses Microsoft Teams, but I'm able to join any other types of calls (Webex, Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc).

I've managed to keep an entire RHV host and its VMs sequestered, so we should have the necessary machinery to test with.

Comment 14 Ryan Barry 2020-05-12 15:12:25 UTC
The real problem here probably won't be testing, but an actual fix. It's compiled code. But maybe still worth a look at the environment

Comment 15 shawnahall71+redhatbugzilla 2020-05-12 15:16:17 UTC
Understood. Just let me know what I can do to help.
