Description David Santamaría Rogado 2020-04-13 19:20:52 UTC
Actually with pkcs11-glue the only step to get support for smart cards like id cards is to install OpenSC.

I want to ask for default inclusion of the opensc package in the live media and default installation as this way id cards will work out of the box in clean installations.

Don't know if this should be reported for anaconda or other component.

To add these tool to the installed system please create a bug on 'comps' component. That component will change repositories metadata which are used to decide what should be installed.
Or if you mean netinstall image environment as the 'default installation' then please select component Lorax.

This bug will be used to get the tool to live media. Switching component to add this to live DVD.

I think it's too late for Fedora 32, but we can discuss it for Fedora 33. But I'd like to know whether there is a clear benefit to having this available in the Live environment; rather than just installing it post-install? The Workstation live media is space constrained, because it's preferentially capped at 2GiB for now.

Comment 3 David Santamaría Rogado 2020-04-26 19:18:23 UTC
Chris, unlike f2fs this one could be useful even have a some secure environment to work with smart cards just by having a live usb, unlike f2fs-tools I think this one could be interesting to include in the live media.

Will open a new one in 'comps'.

Comment 4 Chris Murphy 2020-04-26 20:22:54 UTC
My suggestion is to just change this bug to fedora-comps component. And then also start a discussion about it on the desktop@ list, which is where Workstation working group discussions happen.

Comment 5 Michael Catanzaro 2020-04-28 16:02:43 UTC
I don't think we should do this separately/specially for live media. It should either be added to comps (https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/142) or not, and that's all. Suggestion: close this bug.

Comment 6 Michael Catanzaro 2020-05-15 17:52:55 UTC
I'm adding it to comps.
