Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for reporting this. I will see what we can do.

Comment 2 Sergei Petrosian 2020-04-22 09:42:03 UTC
Hi Peter,

Some hammer commands have the note `Unfortunately the server does not support such operation.` in the output of the `hammer full-help --md` command. There are 8 of them:
hammer content-view purge
hammer host errata
hammer host package
hammer host package-group
hammer host subscription
hammer host-collection erratum
hammer host-collection package
hammer host-collection package-group

At the same time, running these individual commands with `--help` does not show this message in the output. For example:
~~~
[root@dell-r430-7 ~]# hammer content-view purge --help
Usage:
    hammer content-view purge [OPTIONS]
Options:
 --async                                 Do not wait for the task
 --count COUNT                           Count of unused versions to keep
                                         Default: 3
 --id ID                                 Content View numeric identifier
 --name NAME                             Content View name
 --organization ORGANIZATION_NAME        Organization name to search by
 --organization-id ORGANIZATION_ID       Organization ID to search by
 --organization-label ORGANIZATION_LABEL Organization label to search by
 -h, --help                              Print help
[root@dell-r430-7 ~]#
~~~

Also, I tested if this `hammer content-view purge` command works, and it does.
Off topic: However, the `--count` option works differently and counts +1 version. For eample, I specified `--count` but the command kept 2 versions, not one. This might be a bug.

Questions:
Why does the `hammer full-help --md` command outputs the message `Unfortunately the server does not support such operation.` in those commands?
If this is intentional, why the message is not displayed when running each command with `--help`?

This causes our script that generates hammer-cli reference to collect those messages and confuse readers.

Thank you

Hi Sergei, from what I can tell it seems like a bug. The message appears where the "predefined field sets" table appears for other entries, so I speculate the api call for additional data doesn't find an expected response for those entries (They all come from Katello). I defer to Oleh, who'll likely know more

Comment 4 Oleh Fedorenko 2020-05-04 14:22:11 UTC
Hi Sergei, Peter,

It's not related to "predefined field sets" containing commands. It's a bug which is related to full-help command only. Is there a BZ for Hammer component that is tracking this? If so, please provide me the link and I'll sync the redmine issue.

Comment 5 Sergei Petrosian 2020-05-04 14:47:10 UTC
Hi Oleh,

Thank you for verifying this. Now that you have confirmed that this is a bug I have reported it in BZ#1831066.
