Description of problem:
This bug is akin to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1696717 where we added support to integrate manila with an existing external Ceph cluster.
However, this pertains to the use of the native "cephfs" protocol - so there's no ceph component in the openstack overcloud at all; contrasting with the case of the NFS protocol where with BZ 1696717, we deploy the Ceph-nfs (NFS-Ganesha) component onto the overcloud nodes.
No code changes are anticipated for this besides the feasibility of using CephFS shares from an external cluster with Ceph-fuse mounts within Nova VMs.
There is a documentation impact however to ensure that any configuration steps be called out in the Integrating with Existing external ceph cluster documentation: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openstack_platform/16.0/html/integrating_an_overcloud_with_an_existing_red_hat_ceph_cluster/index
The use of CephFS via the native CephFS protocol has remained Tech Preview through RHOSP 16.0 GA. The bugzilla https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1810045 tracks the GA for this deployment choice for RHOSP 16z1 (Initial Target)
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 16 z
