Description Enrique 2020-05-06 10:12:05 UTC
Description of problem:

Currently EPEL 8 repository doesn't include the python-astropy package. It would be very useful if that package is included in the EPEL 8 repository. I guess that at this point only the python3 variant makes sense.

Branches requested:

https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/24822
https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/24823

We are still missing some deps though:

cfitsio
erfa
wcslib

Could you file requests for cfitsio and wcslib? erfa has already been requested (by you :). Thanks.

Sergio - do you have any interested in supporting EPEL?

Hi,
thank you for looking into this.
It looks like cfitsio is already in EPEL:

I will file a bug for wcslib

Comment 3 Orion Poplawski 2020-05-24 17:38:46 UTC
Getting closer, though it looks like we will need to stick with 3.2.3 due 4.0 requiring numpy >= 1.16 and EL8 only having 1.14.3.

Comment 4 Enrique 2020-05-24 22:36:13 UTC
That's great. 3.2.3 is still perfectly fine.
