Description Thomas Braun 2006-02-28 18:27:36 UTC
Description of problem:

Hi,
I tried to install fc5test3, from FC-5-Test3-i386-DVD.iso, under my vmware
workstation 5.5.1 running on debian sarge.

After the media check I always get an prompt that the install system can't find
any harddisc. If I say yes to add devices manually, and then click done, I get a
few prompts later the message that no devices have been found on which a
filesystem could be created. And then the installation aborts.
The installation works under FC4.

How to reproduce:

Boot from FC-5-Test3-i386-DVD.iso under vmware Workstation.

Thanks
Thomas Braun

I'm betting you are using the old and now deprecated (and unsupported) scsi
"adapter" in your vmware config. Try reconfiguring your vm to use the newer one.

Yes your are right.
After changing the HDD to IDE it works :)
Thanks a lot for the quick answer.
I haved used SCSI because it is labeled as RECOMMENDED in the vmware menu.
