Description Akira TAGOH 2020-05-25 09:11:35 UTC
Description of problem:
$  fc-query -b /usr/share/fonts/terminus-fonts/Terminus.otb

Pattern has 25 elts (size 32)
        family: "Terminus"(s)
        familylang: "en"(s)
        style: "Regular"(s)
        stylelang: "en"(s)
        fullname: "Terminus"(s)
        fullnamelang: "en"(s)
        slant: 0(i)(s)
        weight: 100(f)(s)
...

weight 100 means Medium but style has Regular. it should be Medium.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
terminus-fonts-4.48-6.fc33.noarch

Well, that’s one reason I’m asking fontconfig upstream to expose the weight in standard OpenType scale within fontconfig tools

*no* *tool* or spec understands weight: 100

You’re asking @pwu to change values in its font creation toolchain, while not giving the value every tool uses, but an internal fontconfig transformation of that value.

(transformation, which is broken for variable fonts)
