Error log

Description of problem:
After installing the package eclipse-mpc, Eclipse fails right after selecting the workspace and clicking "Launch". See attached logs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.8.1

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Eclipse from GNOME Software (from Fedora 32 repositories).
2. Install Eclipse PDT and Git support (from Eclipse repositories, using "Install New Software" in the "Help" menu).
3. Install Eclipse Marketplace (dnf install eclipse-mpc).
4. Add/Select a workspace and try to launch it.

Actual results:
Instead of the Eclipse main window, I see a small popup saying an error has occurred and that I should check the logs at "~/eclipse-workspace/.metadata/.log". Eclipse then closes itself.

Expected results:
Eclipse should load the workspace as usual.

Things I've tried:
1. Creating a new workspace and launching it does not fix the problem.
2. Removing eclipse-mpc (dnf remove eclipse-mpc) and trying item number 1 doesn't work either.
3. Removing eclipse-mpc followed by a reboot allowed it to work, but my current workspace is now broken, as explained in Comment #1. Creating a fresh new workspace eliminates the problems caused by installing eclipse-mpc. I need the marketplace though.

Comment 1 Douglas 2020-05-27 17:37:28 UTC
After I removed eclipse-mpc, Eclipse would still not open due to the same errors. I did a reboot, then the main window loaded successfully, but there were many missing icons, missing menu items, etc. When clicking the tab "Git Repositories", an error popped out about missing repositories. Essentially, my Eclipse installation seems broken now. I will attach the new logs.

Error related to eclipse-mpc

This error appears in a fresh new workspace, when checking for updates. It seems eclipse-mpc is not being removed cleanly. It's leaving a lot of trash behind that is ruining my Eclipse installation.

Comment 5 Douglas 2020-05-27 18:17:31 UTC
I have managed to get everything working now by deleting all workspaces, installing eclipse-mpc and creating a new clean workspace on first startup of Eclipse.

So, to reproduce this, start with an existing workspace and then install eclipse-mpc. Eclipse will fail to start. Now remove eclipse-mpc. Eclipse starts, but workspace is broken and the Eclipse installation complains about missing eclipse-mpc files.
