Description David Marchand 2020-06-02 13:39:22 UTC
Description of problem:

Switching between Text and Photo mode with a configured Brother MFC L3770 CDW (requires Brother rpm brscan4, used brscan4-0.4.9-1.x86_64.rpm), all scans are in monochrome.

But if simple-scan is started in Photo mode first, the scans will be in color.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
simple-scan-3.12.2-1.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install brscan4-0.4.9-1.x86_64.rpm (provided by vendor) and configure a MFC L3770CDW scanner
2. Scan a document in "Photo" mode,
3. Scan a document in "Text" mode,
4. Scan a document in "Photo" mode,

Actual results:

In step2, resulting document is in color.
In step3, resulting document is monochrome.
In step4, resulting document is monochrome.

Expected results:

In step2, resulting document is in color.
In step3, resulting document is monochrome.
In step4, resulting document is in color.

Additional info:

I did not go with a full git bisect, but https://github.com/GNOME/simple-scan/commit/12e9c02a6cccf6b17aada9a26987007eb6d1360d seems necessary to fix the issue.
Tried before this commit (sha1^) and reproduced the problem.
Tried on this commit (and the current master), and the problem is fixed.
