Im not so sure if packaging dirs-next is a worthwhile effort. The original dirs Projects are active again, while the -next forks are inactive now. They are still API compatible, so using dirs instead of dirs-next is as simple as switching out the dependencies and import statements.

Weird. Last I checked, it was the other way round, and dependent crates were starting to move back from dirs-next to dirs.
