Description of problem: This is a continuation of bug 1520005 and https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=83460 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): F26-F32... How reproducible: Happens incessantly, as frequently as mouse move events. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install virtualbox on macos 2. Install fedora in virtualbox 3. Observe that the whole screen periodically flickers when using Wayland (the default setting), no flickering if using 'Gnome on xorg'. Actual results: Lots of flickering Expected results: Not flickering Additional info: Xorg and console work just fine sans flickering.
I am experiencing a similar issue, but on a bare-metal install on both Fedora 32 and Fedora 33 beta. I'm not sure of the severity of the flickering in your case, but on my screen it appears like the refresh rate is just slightly off. It's only noticeable on certain colors on-screen, like dark grays, dark greens, etc. It's not severe in my case, but it is distracting. Using an Xorg session fixes the issue. I'm on an Nvidia GTX 680, 2008 Mac Pro with the nouveau driver.
The issue I've observed does appear to be related to refresh rate or at least related to the event rate, as moving the mouse around does seem to provoke more flickering. It's definitely not limited to colors; it's whole screen flickering black.
Wayland is a set of protocols, the bug described here is not with Wayland but with the implementation - Moving to mutter where this is implemented.
