Description Numan Siddique 2020-07-09 10:09:08 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1805630 +++

Description of problem:
ovn-controller supports partial incremental processing for updates received from ovsdb-server SB DB. However, updates to the following tables still trigger full recomputations:

- Southbound.Chassis
- Southbound.Encap
- Southbound.Port_Binding
- Southbound.Datapath_Binding
- OVS.Port

This BZ is opened to track I-P (incremental processing) support for the above mentioned tables.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
OVS/OVN 2.13/20.03

How reproducible:
Automation script.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow steps to deploy the test infra: https://gitlab.cee.redhat.com/ovn/ovn-scale-testing
2. ./do.sh install && ./do.sh rally-deploy
3. ./do.sh browbeat-run browbeat-scenarios/switch-per-node-500.yml 500-nodes
4. Check logs from ovn-controllers (stored in ./test-results/500-nodes/logs/*/*/ovn-controller.log

Actual results:
At higher scales we see ovn-controller CPU spikes due to full recomputations.

Expected results:
ovn-controller should be able to incrementally process updates.

Fix available in ovn2.13-20.06.1-0

Comment 1 Numan Siddique 2020-07-09 10:10:41 UTC
The Bug #1805630 addressed I-P for some of the tables.
We can still handle I-P for chassis and few other tables. This needs to be investigated.

Comment 2 Mark Michelson 2022-10-05 19:14:21 UTC
I'm going through old issues. I think all of the listed tables now feed into incremental processing in some way. Southbound.Encap and OVS.Port are the only two that do not appear to have any specific handler functions defined for them. Is there any value to keeping this issue open?

Comment 3 Numan Siddique 2022-10-06 14:35:36 UTC
I think this can be closed now.
