RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Radek Duda 2020-07-10 10:16:52 UTC
Description of problem:
When there is no ISO file in NFS domain, "Failed to fetch CD names" error message pops up. The message is true, but suggests there is something broken on the way. More specific message here would be more appropriate.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
virt-viewer-9.0-3.el8.x86_64
libgovirt-0.3.7-3.el8.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have nfs domain in rhv and no ISO files there
2. Connect to VM with remote-viewer
3. Set "File" -> "Change CD"

Actual results:
"Failed to fetch CD names" error message pops up.

Expected results:
"No ISO file in NFS domain found" or "NFS domain is empty." or something like this

Upstream commit that fixes this bug: ff11d5937ef2681f1b2bd58d9bea5854f7ff3c9a

Comment 6 John Ferlan 2021-09-16 13:12:37 UTC
Uri - is there a release that upstream patch will go into? Having a bug in POST without a downstream patch and release associated places this bug into an odd category of bugs that are in POST but technically in the backlog. You need to set ITR at the very least and associate with a downstream rebase or backport.

Comment 8 zhoujunqin 2021-11-03 11:34:16 UTC
I can reproduce this issue with the package:
virt-viewer-9.0-11.el8.x86_64

Get error:
Failed to fetch CD names.

Then try to verify this bug with the latest package:
virt-viewer-9.0-12.el8.x86_64

Steps:
1. Add aN NFS domain in rhv and no ISO files there
2. Connect to VM with remote-viewer
3. Set "File" -> "Change CD"

Currently, the error message shows - No ISO files in domain.
It's acceptable, so I add Verified:Tested to this bug, thanks.

Comment 12 zhoujunqin 2021-11-09 12:34:31 UTC
Test with the package - virt-viewer-9.0-12.el8.x86_64

Test steps:

1. Environment setup - Confirm there are no ISO files listed in Data Domain and ISO Domain(if exist).
2. Connect to VM with remote-viewer
3. Set "File" -> "Change CD"

Test result - Error message displays with "No ISO files in domain", then click the 'Close' button to exit the 'Change CD'.

So I move this bug from ON_QA to VERIFIED status, thanks.
