Description Chris Paquin 2020-07-29 17:12:06 UTC
Description of problem:

Currently, the only method to gather post-update and post-upgrade is manual feedback from support organizations or consulting. Engineering would benefit from more predictable and programatic feedback from updates and upgrades in the field.

An sosreport module could be written that can be utilized to gather system data, upgrade timings, and ansible facts. An sosreport could be run post-upgrade and the data parsed programmatically by RH Engineering.

These timings could then be made available to customers, support, and consulting to better predict the duration of each step of the upgrade, and schedule maintenance windows, all of which are required to complete an upgrade/update.

Additional info:

Additional Feedback from RH Engineering on what data they would like to collect is necessary .
