Looking at https://github.com/ultrajson/ultrajson/releases, it appears that the only “incompatible” change from 3.x to 4.x was removal of Python 3.5 support, and from 4.x to 5.x was removal of Python 3.6 support. Updating F37 and F36 to the current version from 4.0.2 should therefore be unproblematic. It even should be possible to update even F34 and F35 to the latest version safely. I don’t have a strong feeling as to whether the bug fixes that would bring are worth the small risk of problems, even after COPR testing.
(In reply to Ben Beasley from comment #32) > It even should be possible to update even F34 and F35 to the latest version > safely. I don’t have a strong feeling as to whether the bug fixes that would > bring are worth the small risk of problems, even after COPR testing. (Explicitly versioned dependencies on this package are another matter compatibility-wise, and these would have to be carefully checked for.)
I have a PR for version 5.1.0, which I plan to leave open for a week or so to allow for any comments: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-ujson/pull-request/3 I think it makes sense to build it for F37/Rawhide and F36. I’m not sure that further backports are worth the verification effort.
It looks like I’ll need help to merge the PR, since my “collaborator” privileges aren’t configured to include committing to Rawhide. (I’m not sure what, if anything, I can do on this project.)
