Mplayer worked great on same hardware and FC4.
Other programs playing sound works good.
soundcard is VIA 82xx AC97

MPlayer from Freshrpms has no audio on some but not all movie files, and also
some video corruption. I also have VIA 82xx AC97 sound card and am using the
same codecs (tarball from mplayerhq.hu) as with FC4.

Comment 2 Jonas Nyman 2006-03-23 13:45:38 UTC
I removed all mplayer rpms I had downloaded from the fedora extra and livna
respository. Then installed the standard rpms from mplayerhq.hu
rpm -ivh --nodeps mplayer* mencoder*
works just fine.

The --nodeps i necessary, I got some dependency error due to mplayer wanting
some XFree86-libs.

ok, this sounds like an Livna mplayer bug.

they have their own bugtracker at http://bugzilla.livna.org/
