Description Chris Murphy 2020-08-15 21:10:50 UTC
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
virt-manager-2.2.1-3.fc32.noarch

qemu-kvm-5.0.0-5.fc33.x86_64
libvirt-daemon-6.6.0-1.fc33.x86_64
edk2-ovmf-20200201stable-5.fc33.noarch
xorg-x11-drv-qxl-0.1.5-16.fc33.x86_64
kernel-5.8.0-1.fc33.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Clean install Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-33-20200813.n.2.iso
2. dnf group install virtualization
3. Create a new UEFI VM using virt-manager, try to boot Fedora-Everything-netinst-x86_64-33-20200814.n.0.iso

Actual results:

Screen transitions from gray to black. Then nothing else. No error messages, and no change.

top shows qemu-system-x86 is running.

Expected results:

I should see tianocore splash and then a GRUB menu

Additional info:

BIOS VM works as expected.

Comment 6 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2020-08-15 21:29:13 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker for 33-beta by Fedora user chrismurphy using the blocker tracking app because:

"The release must be able host virtual guest instances of the same release. "

Works with BIOS VM, doesn't work with UEFI VM; but pretty sure we cover both under the criterion even though I can find a reference.

Same problem with virtio graphics.

Comment 8 Cole Robinson 2020-08-17 14:46:26 UTC
Thanks for the report Chris. Can you downgrade ipxe and retry? May be the same as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1869102

Comment 9 Chris Murphy 2020-08-17 15:12:13 UTC
