Description Kaushik Sajjan Agarwal 2020-08-21 04:18:00 UTC
Description of problem:

[RFE] Appropriate error should be displayed if incorrect target version is provided while running capsule upgrade playbook job

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Red Hat Satellite 6.8 Beta

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to the following path in Satellite GUI: Monitor >> Jobs >> Click on "Run Job"
2. Fill in the following details and click on "Submit":

---
Job category - Ansible Playbook
Job template - Capsule Upgrade Playbook
Search Query - name = (Your_Capsule_FQDN)
target_version - <Fill in any incorrect version> // Example: 6.2, 6, abc, 6.z
whitelist_options - "check-non-redhat-repository" // You can provide any other options
---

Actual results:

The job will fail as the "target_version" specified is incorrect but doesn't clearly states that the target versoin was the issue.

Expected results:

The failed job should state the "target_version" issue clearly.

Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Thank you for your interest in Red Hat Satellite. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this feel free to contact your Red Hat Account Team. Thank you.
